Moving attribute points
Thanks to everyone who help answer questions here. Keep up the good work!
Here is my next one: Characters are allowed to move attribute points around with refund points. How often and how many can you use? Is there a drawback to shifting them (ie any loss of character points). I do not want to speculate, rather I would like to hear it from the horses mouth. This will help planning future builds that require pumping some stats and reducing others without creating a whole new character. Please advise, thanks |

no loss of any of your points
only loss of refund points and you get those back simply by playing some more edit you can move as many points as you have refund points for at the time you do it (it is not point for point but the number of points for that level is allowed for 1 refund point) taking a level down from 12 to 11 would use one refund point and yeild 20 skill points i believe play more to get more refund points but it is better to plan what you want so as to have the minimum shifting of points Last edited by Loviatar; Feb 28, 2005 at 08:24 PM // 20:24.. |

You get refund points every so often. I forgot how many per exp or mission but you usually aren't any any short supply.
Refund points take back levels. For instance, if you have level 9 marksmanship, 1 refund point will refund 9 points in marksmanship and make you level 8. So you don't lose any attribute points and it only takes 1 refund point per level that you refund - not 1 refund point per attribute point that you refund. (btw: each level costs it's name, level 8 in marksmanship is 8 attribute points, level 9 is 9 attribute points, and so on.) |

Ok, that is helpful thankyou. So suppose when you are level 20 and focusing on 3 attributes with a tight build and after a while you have an alternate idea which involves a completely unused stat. So from draining one attribute from 12 to zero and jacking the other from zero the twelve; could that be done fairly quickly or how much running around do I have to do to build the refund points? For that matter after you cap at 20, can you even accumulate exp and refund points?

I've never had any shortage of refund points. All you would need to take one attribute from 12 to 0 is 12 refund points, and then that frees up the attribute points to go from 0 to 12 in the other attribute point. Unless you change your attributes around 6 times a day, you really shouldn't have any trouble at all acumulating them. But I suppose if changing it 6 times a day is your thing, then you can run a mission - i'm pretty sure completing objectives gives you points also. But I don't know the actual numbers here... I think it's something like for every 250 exp you get 1. (yes you keep getting exp after level 20 but the "levels" stop at 20... But for every full exp bar which would have given you a level if it didn't cap at 20, you'd get more refunds and 1 skill point used for buying skills). But I'm no "Guru" so hopefully one of the gods of knowledge will reply soon to clear things up.

you only get a max of 10 refund points at a time, so therefore you cannot drop an attribute from 12 to 0. you would have to drop it to 2 and run off and get more refund points..
